A Guinness World Record-winning hotpot, which is 10 meters in diameter, 1 meter high, and weighs 13 tonnes, attracted wide attention at the ongoing second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in east China’s Shanghai, reported on November 6.

Exhibited at the outdoor North Exhibition Space of the second CIIE among automatic machines, driverless cars, and intelligent aircraft, the giant pot was fired up at noon on November 6. It was displayed at the expo as an item of intangible cultural heritage of China.

More than 50 guests were invited to enjoy the massive two-flavor hotpot: one half spicy soup and the other half a light broth, while singers and dancers gathering around the pot to perform Chuanjiang Haozi, work songs of boat trackers in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, and Sichuan Opera face-changing.

The hotpot was a product of Morals Village Hot Pot (Dezhuang Group), a famous Chinese hotpot brand. The company now uses more than ten kinds of imported food materials, including cattle tripe from New Zealand, Indian chilies, Canadian seafood, German beef lard, and beef from Australia and Brazil, according to Gianluca Luisi, vice CEO and general manager of Dezhuang International, Dezhuang Group’s platform for internationalization strategies.

Dezhuang Group signed four deals on November 6 at the second CIIE, including an agreement on importing a special wine from Italy, which goes great with spicy food.
